<div class="post-inner-style">HDI&#8217;s 22nd annual conference happened 2 weeks ago in Orlando, Florida. Around 1600 professionals, ranging from directors to front-line analysts, attended the conference. And we did too! Over 50 exhibitor booths were set up and stayed busy on all three days. Many vendors we met in SDITS were present at HDI too.</div>
<div class="post-inner-style">What we didn&#8217;t expect was the fun-filled, high-spirited flash mob by ManageEngine. For the first time in the history of HDI, the first-of-its-kind flash mob proved that IT can be fun. It started off like an annoying interruption but soon there was high momentum and we were dancing to the tunes of Lady Gaga, Pitbull, LMFAO and Maroon5.  For 5 blissful minutes we forgot that we were at a technical conference. Kudos ManageEngine.</div>

<div class="post-inner-style">A couple of us here at IHS attended SDITS in London last month and it was an awesome experience.  SDITS is one of the biggest tradeshows in the service desk arena and one of the busiest times of the year. We met with a lot of leading help desk providers showcasing more than 250 products and services. They were thrilled as much as we were. People kept swarming in and the booth staff were busy all day long. The turnout was great that most vendors fixed their booth space for SDITS 2013 with no further ado.</div>
<div class="post-inner-style">We were so excited about the event ourselves that we were rolling on the floors taking photos and running all around the hall trying to take in everything. Check out some cool pics that we took.</div>

<div class="post-inner-style">This afternoon, while browsing through the internet, I noticed lot of upcoming websites making purposeful attempts at simplifying ITIL and even adding a touch of humor.</div>
<div class="post-inner-style">With ITIL being a big buzzword and IHS being all about help desks, we wanted to add our little feather to the ITIL hat. So, we designed something simple to liven up your cubicle – an Incident Management Workflow Chart. Don&#8217;t look so stunned. You can use it both as a décor and a work reference material. Download and see for yourself. <em>(What you see below is just a preview image. For a high resolution image, hit on &#8220;Email Image&#8221; button).</em></div>
<div class="post-inner-style">Incident Management itself is a vast and elaborate topic and there&#8217;s lots more to it than what would fit into one flowchart. Still, with this Incident Management Flowchart, you needn’t scout for online references anymore. </div>
<div class="post-inner-style">This workflow is a great place to start if you want to understand simple Incident Management concepts. If you are engaging a new Service Desk for your company with less experienced staff or newbies, this workflow chart would be most useful for everyday reference.</div>
<div class="post-inner-style">So, download the flowchart, print it out (with the colors) and pin it up anywhere at your work desk. Give it a serious look now and then so that your boss knows that you are hard at work.</div>

<strong>HOW IT STARTED:</strong></p>
<div class="post-inner-style">When we decided to buy a help desk for our company&#8217;s internal IT, we weren&#8217;t fully prepared for the complications that we ran into.</div>
<div class="post-inner-style">First of all there were like a zillion help desk tools in the market (ok&#8230;maybe around 700, to give a fair ballpark number), then their websites cluttered with content (content, of course, written more for SEO purposes than to help an end-user), and expensive IT consultants trying to sell us all the help desks they were endorsing.</div>
<div class="post-inner-style">A couple of us got into the sole task of finding the right help desk. Yes, I had to <strong>wade through all the websites, help desk reviews, galore of blogs, features, compare different help desks, run through demos, evaluate various help desks and what not!</strong></div>
<div class="post-inner-style"><strong>WHAT WE DID:</strong><br />
All through our research, I was hoping for some magic to happen, some self-processed results to pop up and put me out of the misery. Nothing happened. After what I call an ordeal, we were able to narrow down our options to a couple of tools. And then it stuck me. I deliberated for a minute over the amount of time, effort and energy I put into this research. Was I going to leave all that info behind and move on? Absolute blasphemy! But, what else could I do?</div>
